To ensure we remain transparent and accountable to those who entrust us with their data, as well as compliant with relevant legislation, is it important that all DDAR colleagues are familiar with our Divisional Privacy Statement.

The Privacy Statement explains how we collect, store, manage and protect data. It outlines the types of data that we hold and how we use them to provide services to our alumni and supporters.  The key point is we must always be clear when we collect personal information, and not do anything the owner of the information wouldn’t reasonably expect.

We have different versions of the Privacy Statement which vary in length.  They all cover the same ground, but this ‘layered’ approach to privacy provides flexibility when it comes to communicating how we collect, use, store and process data to our alumni and supporters.  To give a practical example: it would be unwise for us all to include the full statement within our email footers!
