Core Funding Gifts Process for Fundraisers

When your proposal has got to the “Unconfirmed Pledge” stage, please follow the below steps to ensure all the information we require for reporting to faculties and finance is recorded properly.

In the Purpose drop-down field, choose the relevant philanthropic area for this gift. Current options are listed below.

Proposal – Notes Tab

Create a new notepad and choose the type Gift Coding. In the notes section, please note what the gift is for, the area it is benefiting and whether it is budget relieving or not. Options for these are below.

Definition of budget relieving:
Budget relieving gifts are defined as gifts where the income is directly supporting the financial bottom line – ie it is either in full or in part contributing to costs the University has already committed
to (eg existing posts, replacement funding for existing scholarships (not MAP, E&M or Foundation) or capital projects that are included in the campus masterplan AND are fully costed). Please do also consider any contributions to FEC or similar costs. If unsure, please speak to your line manager or seek advice from Rob Summers, Head of Development.
