Connecting to your University computer from a Mac

Published: 11th March 2020

Call IT Services on 0161 306 5544/ext 65544 when you are in front of the university desktop computer you wish to remote into so they can enable remote desktop for your username.

  • Your University computer must be kept powered on to allow you to connect remotely. All University computers are configured to go to sleep after a certain period of inactivity so there is no need to save energy by switching off your computer.
  • You will need to connect to the GlobalProtect VPN using Duo on the computer you are using to remotely connect to your University computer. GlobalProtect VPN: Installation
  • If you are unable to connect to the GlobalProtect VPN ( e.g. if there are issues on home WiFi) please call the IT Support Centre on 0161 306 5544 for assistance.
