Amending an Email Address

Published: 30th August 2017

This guide refers to the process of modifying an existing email address. For example, changing the type from Personal to Business, or correcting the spelling of the address.

Step 1

On the Bio 1 screen of the constituent’s record, click on the tab for Email Addresses, just to the right of Telephone Numbers.

If the constituent has informed you they don’t want to receive any emails from DDAR, please follow the guide here.

Step 2

You can change the email Type by clicking in the blue box and selecting from the drop-down menu.

Note: We do not use Preferred Email anymore.

We never overwrite any email addresses, as we need to keep records of past contact details.

Also, be aware that there is a difference between adding a new email address and correcting a current email address.

Step 3

If you wish to amend the email address itself (incorrect spelling etc), do not click on the email address as this will attempt to open up a new email to that address. Instead, click on the blue Type box to the left, and then press tab once to highlight the email address. You can now press the left arrow button (not the backspace key!) and amend the address.

You will only need to change Primary/Inactive boxes if you are adding/replacing email addresses.

Guide to Adding Email (Replacing Existing Address) is here.

Guide to Adding Email (None Currently Exist) is here.

Step 4

Click on Save and Close once finished amending the email address.
