2-factor Authentication

Published: 28th September 2017

2-factor Authentication will become mandatory for all members of university staff and PGR students this October, and is designed to improve our IT security.

You can choose various authentication methods including:

Mobile Phone – Either receive push notifications on smartphone/receiving code by SMS.

Landline – Receive a call with instructions.

Key Fob token – Generates a code to enter on your PC.

It’s a simple process and this guide explains how to get set up.

Step 1

Go to the IT Account Manager website and sign in as usual.

Step 2

Once logged in, click on the tab named 2-factor (Duo).

Step 3

Follow the Duo enrolment instructions here.

Step 4

Login to GlobalProtect using your chosen authentication method.

First you will need to enter your Username and Password on the pop up box that appears on your PC:

The screenshot below shows how your Duo notification will appear on a smartphone. Click Approve and then Confirm.

If you are not using a university-managed computer, you will need to install the GlobalProtect VPN. Follow the instructions here.
